The mysterious acronym ‘CRISPR’ has probably popped up on your screen in the past years. Admittedly, it’s not a very catchy name, and there is no shame in scrolling on. But the CRISPR-Cas9 method has sparked a scientific revolution. Whether we like it or not, we now live in the era of genetic engineering and our world is changing drastically. In this talk, we’ll introduce gene editing with CRISPR-Cas9, along with the risks, the current situation and how far we are in fulfilling its promise! We’ll start from a very basic level, so if you don’t really know what to imagine when hearing the words DNA, proteins, genes and gene editing, don’t worry!
